Punjab Newsline, Bathinda, February 18-
The Department of History, School of Social Sciences, at CU Punjab organized the inaugural ceremony of a two-day national conference titled "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: A Founding Father of Modern Bharat." Sponsored by the ICHR, New Delhi, the conference aims to sensitize the younger generation to the lasting impact of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s visionary leadership, military prowess, social reforms, and contributions to statecraft.
The conference commenced with an inaugural session featuring Vijay Nadda, Social Activist and Uttar Kshetra Sanghthan Mantri, Vidhya Bharti, as the keynote speaker, and Col. (Retd.) Jaibansh Singh, Chief Editor of The Punjab Pulse News and Analyst of Indian Defense and Security Affairs, as the Chief Guest.
Keynote speaker Nadda presented an in-depth analysis of Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership, emphasizing his visionary governance and military brilliance. He explained how Shivaji, a 17th-century warrior-king, built his kingdom in western Maharashtra, challenged the Mughals, especially Aurangzeb, and made a significant change with his 1674 coronation, which weakened Mughal power and inspired rebellions.
