India’s impressive performance at the Commonwealth Games 2026 continued on the 10th day of competition, with the country opening its account with two gold medals. After Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria added another gold to India’s tally, securing the nation’s seventh gold medal overall and second gold in boxing at the Glasgow Games.
25-year-old boxer from Bhiwani, Haryana, clinched the women’s 57kg boxing title by defeating defending champion Michaela Walsh. The victory marks a significant achievement for Jasmine, who had earlier won a bronze medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
The final was a closely contested bout, with both boxers displaying tactical discipline and carefully reading each other’s moves. Jaismine edged the first round through a split verdict, gaining an early advantage in a tense contest that featured calculated exchanges rather than aggressive footwork-heavy action.
In the second round, the left-handed Indian boxer dominated with a unanimous verdict. She landed several effective one-two combinations, and although some of her hook punches missed the target, her long reach proved decisive in controlling the fight.
Jaismine Lamboria’s triumph has given India its second boxing gold at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, further strengthening the country’s medal campaign and highlighting the growing depth of Indian women’s boxing on the international stage.
