On the 222nd day of the ongoing state campaign ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’, the Punjab Police today conducted raids across 517 identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
Notably, ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’—a decisive war launched to make Punjab a gangster-free state—was initiated on January 20, 2026, by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav. Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, are running special operations state-wide.
On the 222nd day, police teams arrested 354 individuals, bringing the total number of arrests since the start of the campaign to 66,400.
Additionally, preventive action was taken against 205 individuals. Police teams also arrested 5 proclaimed offenders during the operations.
Citizens can anonymously report wanted criminals and gangsters, as well as share information on crime and criminal activities, through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, police teams continued their campaign against drugs, "Yuddh Nashen Viruddh," into its 547th day, arresting 65 drug smugglers today. Authorities seized 5 kg of heroin, 180 habit-forming tablets, and ₹900 in drug money from their possession. With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested in just 547 days has reached 76,716.
Under the de-addiction drive, Punjab Police today also persuaded three individuals to undergo treatment at de-addiction and rehabilitation centers.
