Punjab Newsline, Mohali-
The District Congress Committee Mohali, under the leadership of District President Ranjit Singh Jeeti and senior Congress leader and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, today submitted a memorandum to the DC and SSP, demanding strict legal action against senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia for his provocative and illegal remarks.
District President Ranjit Singh Jeeti stated that during a recent party meeting, Manish Sisodia declared: “We will do whatever it takes to win the 2027 elections, be it face-to-face, punishment-diversity, truth-lies, question-answer, fight and quarrel. Are you ready?”
He said this statement not only undermines the sanctity of democracy and the electoral process but also poses a direct threat to social harmony and law and order. A video clip of the statement, which has gone viral on social media, has been submitted as evidence.
Speaking on the occasion, Balbir Singh Sidhu said that such remarks openly incite AAP workers towards violence and are punishable under several sections of law. The District Congress Committee Mohali has demanded that an FIR be registered against Manish Sisodia under the following provisions: Sections 171 and 173, IPC 2023 – Use of pressure and unfair means in elections. Section 353, IPC 2023 – Statements causing public disorder. Section 192, IPC 2023 – Incitement to riot. Representation of the People Act, 1951 – Provisions against corrupt practices in elections.
The leaders further demanded a fair and thorough investigation, including forensic verification of the video clip, followed by appropriate legal action. They cautioned that if such provocative statements are not curbed in time, they could seriously disturb peace and law and order in Punjab ahead of the upcoming elections.
Former minister Sidhu emphasized that immediate cognizance must be taken of this complaint and an FIR should be lodged against Manish Sisodia under the relevant legal provisions.
