Haryana's cabinet minister Shruti Choudhry held a meeting with department officials at the Housing Office in Chandigarh. The minister lauded the decision taken in the meeting chaired by CM Nayab Singh Saini. She said making women sarpanches brand ambassadors of their respective villages will strengthen the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign of PM Narendra Modi. In this regard, the minister directed the officials to contact the concerned department and prepare a further roadmap.
While reviewing the works of the department, Choudhry said so far, 4,000 Anganwadi Centers in the state have been developed into sports-based education and nutrition centers. In the next five years, 10,000 Anganwadi Centers will be developed as Saksham Anganwadi Centers.
She directed the officials to provide good, nutritious and hygienic food to the children so that Haryana becomes the first state to become stunting-free by improving the nutritional level of children. She said a grant of Rs. 563 lakh has been received from the Government of India to upgrade 563 Anganwadi Centres. Along with this, the department has also sent another proposal to the Central Government to upgrade 2307 Anganwadi Centres.
