A delivery worker was killed after being run over by a private bus near Alaska Chowk in Jalandhar on Saturday. The impact was so severe that the victim suffered fatal injuries at the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was riding a grey Activa towards Railway Road when he came under the wheels of a private company bus. He died on the spot following the collision.
The accident occurred amid ongoing sewerage work along the road between Alaska Chowk and Madan Flour Mill Chowk. The road has been dug up by the Municipal Corporation for sewerage-related work, while some sewerage openings and excavation remain along the roadside.
Eyewitnesses said the scooter may have lost balance because of the road conditions before colliding with the bus. However, the exact cause of the accident will be established after the police investigation.
Police Begin Identification Process
Police have made a preliminary identification of the deceased as Arun Kumar based on documents recovered from his scooter. The documents reportedly carry an address in Basti Sheikh. However, police have not yet officially confirmed his identity.
The deceased is believed to be around 35 to 40 years old. A delivery bag recovered from the spot reportedly carried the word “ZEE”, and the victim was also said to be working as a delivery partner for Zomato.
A large crowd gathered at the accident site following the incident. Police are examining the documents and other evidence to formally establish the victim’s identity and determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
