DGP Reviews Implementation of New Criminal Laws, Provides Key Directives

Awareness Programs on New Laws to be Held Statewide on July 1

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, June 28-

Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur has instructed Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to ensure that programs are organized at the police station level to generate public awareness about the three new criminal laws that will be implemented from July 1. He emphasized the importance of maximizing public participation in these programs.

DGP Kapur conveyed this information during a video conferencing meeting with senior police officials across the state. He stated that raising awareness among the public about these three new criminal laws is important so that people can understand the changes and benefits of the new laws. During this period, they should also inform people about the stipulated timelime for resolving complaints according to the new laws.

Regarding the awareness programs to be held on July 1, Kapur mentioned that police officers should invite prominent individuals to these events at police stations to help spread the information to a wider audience. He noted that the more people are informed about the new laws, the greater the benefit will be for them.

He further informed that online training regarding the three new criminal laws is being provided through the Government of India’s ‘iGOT Karmayogi’ portal. So far, over 3,000 police personnel have been trained online, and more than 17,000 have received physical training. Additionally, the meeting highlighted that the Haryana Police Training Center has trained 3,314 master trainers, while the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) Center Detective of Training Institute has trained over 200 master trainers. In total, more than 20,000 police personnel in Haryana have been trained on the new laws.
