A viral social media post claiming that Pakistani viewers watched ‘Dhurandhar 2’ on OTT before its Indian release — allegedly causing Netflix servers to crash — has been found to be false.
The claim surfaced after Pakistani content creator Mavia Umar Farooqi shared a video on Instagram stating that the film started streaming in Pakistan at midnight and attracted such heavy traffic that the OTT platform’s servers went down within minutes. The post further claimed that Pakistani audiences were highly excited about the film.
However, a fact check reveals that ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has not yet been released on any OTT platform. The film is officially scheduled to stream in India on June 4 on JioHotstar — not on Netflix as claimed in the viral post.
Since the movie is currently unavailable for streaming anywhere, the claim that Pakistani audiences watched it before Indian viewers and caused a server crash is completely misleading. Pakistani viewers, like audiences elsewhere, will also have to wait for the official OTT release.
