Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that individuals who have amassed crores of rupees in illegal wealth through drug trafficking will now be required to account for their income and assets. He asserted that luxurious houses, hotels, shops, expensive vehicles, and land acquired through drug money would not be spared from government action.
Chief Minister stated that the wealth accumulated through the drug trade rightfully belongs to the poor and to the families whose children have fallen victim to substance abuse. He congratulated the Nurpur Police for taking effective action against drug traffickers and for seizing properties worth nearly ₹3.27 crore linked to the narcotics trade.
Reaffirming the state government's commitment to combating the drug menace, Sukhu said a decisive war against drug trafficking is underway in Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized that every rupee earned through the illegal drug business would be reclaimed for the public and that all assets acquired through narcotics-related activities would be confiscated.
According to the Chief Minister, the properties seized in Nurpur include a luxury bungalow, land, a hotel, shops, vehicles, and bank accounts. He said the action sends a strong message to the drug mafia that there is no place for them in the state.
Sukhu further clarified that the government's strategy goes beyond merely arresting drug traffickers. The objective is to completely dismantle the entire drug network, including its financial structure and illegally acquired assets. He added that police and law enforcement agencies have been granted full freedom to act against drug syndicates and are receiving full support from the state government in this fight.
