Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday concluded its nearly 48-hour-long search operation at the offices of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) in Punjab and Chandigarh. ED teams, travelling in five to six vehicles, left the GMADA headquarters in Mohali after completing their proceedings.
Sources said the agency carried several documents with it. However, ED officials have not yet disclosed what, if anything, was recovered during the searches or shared details of the findings.
The agency had launched raids at multiple locations across Punjab and Chandigarh on Tuesday, and the operation continued for nearly two days.
On Wednesday, ED teams also conducted a search at the Ludhiana residence of the nephew of Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian. Later in the night, officials reached the Chandigarh residence of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain as part of the ongoing action.
Amid the ED operation, the Punjab Government approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking an urgent hearing in the matter. Acting on the plea, the High Court appointed a warrant officer to oversee the ongoing searches.
The court directed the warrant officer to visit the search locations, assess the situation on the ground, and submit a report before the court. The officer has been authorised to inspect the premises being searched at any time and has been asked to file a status report on Thursday itself.
