Majithia Declared 0.56 Hectares of Land in Shimla in Affidavit to Election Commission, But Probe Reveals It Is Nearly 1000 Times More
Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
Expressing satisfaction over the Punjab Vigilance Department being granted a further 4-day remand of Bikram Majithia, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Cabinet Minister Lalchand Kataruchakk said this clearly shows the investigation is progressing in the right direction.
Kataruchakk, said that during the investigation, the Vigilance Department came across extremely shocking facts, which were also presented in court today. The probe revealed that Majithia had long concealed information about many of his properties as they were acquired with illicit wealth. On this occasion, Aap leaders Bikram jit Passi and Jasman Singh gill were also present.
He said that the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission by Majithia’s family mentioned 0.56 hectares of land in Shimla in his wife’s name. However, the investigation has revealed that the actual landholding is nearly 1000 times more than what was declared. This, Kataruchak said, proves the blatant violation of legal norms and how Majithia amassed crores worth of properties in other states while serving as a minister.
He further alleged that Majithia manipulated revenue records during his ministerial tenure to suit his interests and keep the public in the dark. “All of Punjab knows that these people accumulated enormous wealth while in government, and it was all built with money earned through corruption. The Aam Aadmi Party government is now exposing all their black deeds. These individuals are directly responsible for Punjab’s devastation,” he said.
It is noteworthy that the court had earlier granted a 7-day remand to the police, which ended today. Hence, Majithia was produced in court again. Considering the significant progress made in the investigation, the court decided to extend the remand. Kataruchakk stated that this demonstrates the importance of the evidence Vigilance has gathered from various states.
