A heartbreaking incident took place near Mandoli village close to Rajpura, where five members of a family from Landran allegedly attempted suicide by jumping into the Khedi Gandian canal along with their motorcycle. While the husband and wife were rescued alive by villagers and divers, their three children drowned in the strong water current.

According to eyewitnesses, the family arrived on a motorcycle and suddenly plunged into the canal. Locals who saw the shocking scene immediately raised an alarm, prompting villagers and divers to rush into the water without delay. After strenuous rescue efforts, the couple was pulled out safely, but the children could not be saved.

The bodies of the three children were later recovered from the canal and shifted to the mortuary of the Government Hospital in Rajpura for post-mortem examination. The deceased children have been identified as Ekam (14), Muskan (12), and Rajveer Kaur (8).

Dr. Taranjit Kaur stated that the bodies of the three children were brought from the Khedi Gandian canal and further legal procedures are underway.

Diver Rajiv Kumar said the family from Landran had allegedly attempted suicide near Mandoli village by jumping into the canal with their bike. He added that the husband and wife were rescued safely, but the children were swept away due to the strong flow of water.
