Vigilance Bureau has arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gurbakhsh Singh, posted at Sadar Police Station in Faridkot, red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹80,000.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau police station in the Ferozepur Range. Further investigation is underway.

According to the complaint, Lakha Singh, a resident of Ghugiana village, alleged that ASI Gurbakhsh Singh had earlier accepted a bribe of ₹40,000 from him to get a case registered against him cancelled. The complainant further alleged that the ASI was demanding an additional ₹80,000 to have the case cancelled.

Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau examined the complainant's statement and a recording of the alleged demand for a bribe. Following this, a team was deployed to catch the accused.

The ASI was subsequently arrested while allegedly accepting ₹80,000 at a roadside eatery in Sadik in the presence of official witnesses.

The Vigilance Bureau is continuing its investigation into the matter.
