A 50-year-old farm labourer was allegedly mauled to death by a pack of aggressive stray dogs while returning home from work late at night in Kapure village under Mehna Police Station limits in Punjab's Moga district.

According to information received from the Civil Hospital in Moga, the deceased has been identified as Sarbjit Singh, son of Bhajan Singh, a resident of Kapure village. He worked as a daily wage labourer for a local farmer.

Police said Sarbjit Singh had gone to the fields on Saturday night to irrigate the crop. After completing the work, he was walking back home when a pack of stray dogs reportedly surrounded him and attacked him brutally. The victim sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning when family members, concerned after he failed to return home, found his body and informed the police.

A police team reached the spot, took the body into custody, and sent it to the Civil Hospital in Moga for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have initiated further investigation into the incident.
