A tragic incident took place in the Bhoa area of Pathankot after a sudden fire broke out at a grocery shop, claiming the lives of a father and son while they were trying to control the blaze.
The deceased have been identified as shop owner Sham Sharma and his son Dikshu. According to eyewitnesses, the fire reportedly started due to a short circuit inside the shop.
Locals said they rushed to help the father-son duo extinguish the fire, but all of them got trapped in the flames during the rescue attempt. Sham Sharma and his son suffered severe burn injuries and died on the spot.
Residents further claimed that the fire spread rapidly after the gate of the upper-storey structure built above the shop failed to open, causing smoke and flames to intensify quickly. Authorities reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, and further investigation is underway.
