An FIR has been registered against Mohammad Kaif, a Ranji cricketer and the brother of Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, following allegations of sexual exploitation made by a woman from Lucknow. Kaif has been accused of establishing a physical relationship with the complainant on the promise of marriage, while his elder brother, Mohammad Haseeb, has been booked for allegedly threatening her.

According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Lucknow’s Ashiyana area, first met Kaif in Ghaziabad in 2020 through a mutual friend. Their friendship reportedly developed into a relationship, and Kaif allegedly proposed marriage in August 2023. The woman claimed that Kaif assured her that her status as a divorcee and mother of a son would not be a problem.

The complainant alleged that Kaif later invited her to a hotel in Kolkata, where he established physical relations with her after promising marriage. She further claimed that he pressured her to leave her job as a cabin crew member because he disapproved of her profession.

Woman said Kaif repeatedly delayed marriage despite his assurances. According to the complaint, he had promised to marry her after the IPL auction in December 2025, but later distanced himself and allegedly refused to fulfill the commitment.

After Kaif allegedly backed out of the marriage promise, the woman approached his elder brother, Mohammad Haseeb, seeking intervention. However, she claimed that instead of helping resolve the issue, Haseeb threatened her during a meeting in Amroha.

The complainant said she initially approached Ashiyana Police Station on August 31 but did not receive a response. She later escalated the matter to senior police officials. Following the registration of the complaint, Ashiyana Police lodged an FIR against both brothers and launched an investigation into the allegations.

Police officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. No official response from Mohammad Kaif or Mohammad Haseeb had been reported at the time of filing this report.
