The case was registered on the basis of a complaint submitted by some students, who alleged that junior students had been subjected to prolonged harassment, threats and physical abuse by senior students.

According to the complaint, on September 5, the accused senior students allegedly dragged a Class 9 student out of his hostel room and assaulted him. The incident reportedly left the victim and other junior students frightened.

The complainants further alleged that the accused had been ragging, threatening, abusing and physically assaulting junior students for nearly four months. The complaint also contains allegations that some of the senior students possessed weapons, creating an atmosphere of fear and mental distress among the juniors.

Following receipt of the complaint, police registered a case against the five senior students and launched an investigation. Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of Dagshai Police Post, is conducting the probe.
