Former Punjab Chief Secretary and current Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Anurag Verma appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities in real estate projects in Mohali.
Verma reached the ED office on Wednesday carrying documents related to Change of Land Use (CLU) in Mohali. The agency is investigating alleged financial irregularities amounting to around ₹348 crore, along with possible money-laundering aspects, in projects associated with Sunteck City and Altus Space Builders Private Limited.
Verma arrived at the ED office at around 11:07 am and went inside directly. Officials are expected to question him about the documents submitted and his role in decisions connected with the projects.
ED had earlier summoned Verma to appear on August 31, but he could not attend and sought additional time. A fresh date was subsequently fixed. After he did not appear on September 7 either, the agency directed him to appear on September 9 at 10 am.
At the time when the alleged irregularities took place, Verma was heading the Housing and Urban Development Department of Punjab. He is currently serving as the state's Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue.
The ED's questioning is expected to focus on official documents, land-use decisions and other records linked to the projects. The agency is examining whether any procedural violations or financial transactions were connected to the alleged irregularities.
