Chandigarh Police has arrested three burglars involved in a series of house break-ins and thefts in the city, recovering a large cache of stolen property, jewellery, watches, silver articles and tools used in the crimes.
Operation was carried out by the team of Police Station North under the supervision of senior Chandigarh Police officers. The arrests were made during the investigation of three burglary cases registered at Police Station-03, Chandigarh, in September 2026.
Accused have been identified as Satpal Singh of Palwal, Haryana, Ravi alias Pandit of Pinjore, Haryana and 19-year-old Nikhil Kumar, a resident of Ropar, Punjab, with a permanent address in Pinjore. Police said the trio was traced through evidence collected during the investigation and various leads developed by the police team.
During the operation, police recovered a Tissot watch, several Casio watches, Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss watches, gold and silver jewellery, silver plates and glasses, brass utensils, dry fruits, clothing items, burglary tools and other stolen property. Investigators also seized a motorcycle bearing a fake registration number along with an additional fake number plate allegedly used by the accused.
According to police, the accused are suspected habitual offenders and are believed to have links to multiple criminal cases registered in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Their alleged criminal history includes cases related to burglary, theft, vehicle theft, offences under the Arms Act and cases under the NDPS Act. Verification of their previous criminal records is being carried out with the concerned police authorities.
Police said Nikhil Kumar has been sent to judicial custody, while Satpal Singh and Ravi alias Pandit were remanded to police custody for further interrogation until September 16. Further investigation into the burglary cases is underway.
Chandigarh Police said the arrests and recoveries are expected to help solve several property crime cases and may lead to additional recoveries in the coming days.
