Gold and silver prices continued their downward trend ahead of Diwali, providing some relief to buyers. On October 29, both precious metals recorded another decline in prices, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
The price of 24-carat gold fell by ₹563 per 10 grams to ₹1.42 lakh. Meanwhile, silver prices dropped by ₹2,945 per kilogram to ₹1.90 lakh.
The decline in prices has been significant in October so far. Gold has become cheaper by around ₹6,000 per 10 grams, while silver prices have declined by approximately ₹30,000 per kilogram during the month.
The continued fall in gold and silver prices comes ahead of the festive season, when demand for jewellery and precious metals typically rises. Buyers planning to purchase gold and silver for Diwali may benefit from the recent correction in prices.
However, actual retail prices may vary depending on the jeweller, applicable taxes and making charges.
