A firing incident was reported near the DSP office in Jalalabad late Thursday evening, triggering a police investigation.
According to preliminary information, some youths riding a motorcycle were allegedly chasing two men on another motorcycle. When they reached near the DSP office, a shot was reportedly fired.
After receiving information about the incident, City Police reached the spot and began an investigation. Police have rounded up two youths in connection with the incident.
Officials said that, so far, there is no confirmation of anyone being hit or injured in the firing. Police have also asked that any empty cartridge or other evidence found at the scene be handed over to the investigating team.
During the initial investigation, a dispute related to the management of a temple, a personal disagreement and construction of shops on temple land have emerged as possible angles. Police are also examining the legal aspects related to the temple trust and its property.
Police said no previous written complaint regarding gambling or betting was found on record. However, all allegations made in connection with the incident are now being verified.
CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding areas is being examined, while the owners of vehicles found near the spot are also being identified. Police said further action will be taken according to law once the investigation establishes the facts.
