Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the life of the third Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Amar Das Ji, is an unparalleled example of sacrifice, service, dedication, equality, and humanity. He stated that Guru Amar Das Ji’s teachings continue to inspire society by promoting brotherhood, social harmony, and the welfare of humanity.

The Chief Minister was addressing the 9th Grand Nagar Kirtan and Kirtan Samagam organized near Amarpura Chowk in Ludhiana on the occasion of the sacred Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji. During the event, he announced a grant of ₹5 lakh for the management of the Gurdwara and assured full government support for future development projects related to the shrine.

Highlighting the Guru’s contributions, Nayab Singh Saini said Guru Amar Das Ji strongly opposed social evils such as caste discrimination, untouchability, and inequality. Through the message of “Pehle Pangat, Peeche Sangat” (first sit together and dine, then join the congregation), he laid the foundation for social equality and inclusiveness that remains relevant even today.

The Chief Minister also praised the efforts of Guru Amar Das Sewa Society, Shri Sukhmani Sewa Society, and Guru Amar Das Gurdwara and Dharamshala Charitable Trust for organizing the grand religious gathering. He paid his respects to the saints, spiritual leaders, and Raagi Jathas participating in the event.

Saini noted that Guru Amar Das Ji devoted more than six decades of his life to selfless service before ascending to the Guruship and later launched extensive social reforms. He emphasized the Guru’s significant role in women’s empowerment, including his opposition to the practice of Sati, support for widow remarriage, and encouragement for women to step out of restrictive social customs.

The Chief Minister further said that in today’s fast-paced world, where people face mental stress, jealousy, and social conflicts, the teachings of Guru Amar Das Ji provide valuable guidance. He added that the sacred verses of Anand Sahib continue to inspire people toward true happiness, contentment, and spiritual peace.

Referring to the shared cultural and spiritual bond between Haryana and Punjab, Saini said both states are connected through a rich Sikh heritage, and the Haryana Government remains committed to preserving and promoting this legacy for future generations. He also highlighted several initiatives undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to protect and promote India’s religious and cultural heritage, including the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, heritage circuits, and the observance of Veer Bal Diwas.

The Chief Minister assured devotees that the state government would continue working to spread the teachings of Sikh Gurus and address issues related to public convenience and safety, including the relocation of electricity poles near the Gurdwara premises. Several dignitaries, BJP leaders, saints, and devotees were present on the occasion.
