Punjab government on Friday carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the Amritsar Police Commissionerate by removing Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar from his post.
Senior IPS officer Harmanbir Singh has been given the additional charge of Commissioner of Police, Amritsar. According to an order issued by the Home Department, Harmanbir Singh will continue to serve as DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, while also handling the responsibilities of Amritsar Police Commissioner with immediate effect.
The order further stated that former Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has been directed to report to the office of the Director General of Police (DGP) until further instructions. His new posting will be announced separately through a subsequent order.
The government said the reshuffle has been implemented on administrative grounds and has come into force with immediate effect.
