Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the state had secured investment commitments worth ₹4,000 crore during his three-day visit to Sweden, which are expected to create more than 11,000 employment opportunities.

Addressing a press conference at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh to mark the completion of two years of the state government, Saini said the objective of the foreign visit was to attract international investment and bring advanced technologies to Haryana. He returned from Sweden on Saturday morning.

Chief Minister said he held meetings with leading companies and interacted with various stakeholders during the visit. He added that an earlier visit to Singapore had resulted in investment commitments worth ₹5,500 crore. Representatives from both countries have been invited to the upcoming global investment summit, 'Happening Haryana', scheduled for 2027.

76 of 201 Election Promises Fulfilled

Saini said the BJP government's 2024 Assembly election manifesto contained 201 commitments, of which 76 had been fulfilled in the past two years. Work on the remaining 125 commitments was progressing, he added.

Among the initiatives he cited were the Deen Dayal Lado Yojana, procurement of 24 crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and legislation providing for a five-year prison term for those selling counterfeit fertilisers. He also said the government had fulfilled its commitments to enact a law against the illegal 'donkey route' used for migration and to guarantee government jobs to Agniveers.

Chief Minister said free dialysis facilities had been made available to kidney patients in government hospitals. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, people aged 70 and above were being provided free treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. He also highlighted the grant of ownership rights to farmers cultivating land on a leasehold basis before the formation of Haryana.

Highlights of Infrastructure and Welfare Initiatives

Saini said Haryana was the first state in the country to implement the new criminal laws and claimed that it had also taken the lead in procuring crops at MSP.

He highlighted several infrastructure and welfare initiatives, including the launch of the country's first hydrogen-powered train service between Jind and Sonipat, the introduction of elevated railway tracks in Rohtak and Kurukshetra, and the provision of 33 per cent reservation for women in ration depots. He also cited the formation of a Transgender Welfare Board.

Referring to major projects announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saini said the foundation stone for the 26-km Rithala-Kundli Metro corridor, estimated to cost ₹6,220 crore, was laid on January 6, 2025.

On April 14, 2025, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Terminal 3 at Hisar airport and an 800 MW unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar. A ₹90-crore Gobardhan plant in Yamunanagar was also among the projects announced that day.

The Chief Minister further said that on July 17, projects worth ₹9,700 crore, including the Delhi-Katra highway and other road links, were inaugurated in the state. He also referred to the hydrogen train service as a significant development in the country's railway sector.

Saini said the government was continuing to work on its remaining election commitments while focusing on investment, employment generation, infrastructure development and welfare schemes.
