Heavy rain lashed the capital city of Shimla on Monday evening for a brief period, accompanied by light hailstorm in some areas. The downpour, which began after 4 pm, led to overflowing drains and waterlogging in several parts of the city.
School children returning home after school were caught in the rain and reached home drenched. In Chaupal, hailstorm was also reported during the afternoon hours.
Rain was also witnessed in Una, bringing relief from the heat but also causing local disruptions.
The Meteorological Department has issued a short-term rainfall alert for the next three hours for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Sirmaur, and Shimla district, warning of continued showers and possible localized disruption.
