Heavy rain lashed Chandigarh and the entire Tricity on Tuesday, causing waterlogging at several locations and disrupting normal life. After a brief pause during the day, intense rainfall resumed in the evening, with an alert issued for heavy rain over the next three hours.

Waterlogging created difficulties for schoolchildren, parents and office-goers. Several vehicles reportedly broke down or were stranded on flooded roads, leading to traffic congestion in different parts of the Tricity.

The weather had turned humid and hot throughout Monday before changing around 7 pm. Dense clouds gathered over the region, followed by rainfall during the night.

The weather department has forecast thunderstorms and rain in Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali over the next five days. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius on August 19 and around 34 degrees Celsius from August 20 to 22. The minimum temperature is likely to remain between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious during periods of heavy rainfall, particularly while commuting through waterlogged roads.
