Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday addressed a public meeting at Baddal Thor in the Dehra Assembly constituency of Kangra district, announcing several development initiatives for the area.

Sukhu said the state’s first ozone-based drinking water treatment project is being established in Dehra to provide people with clean and safe drinking water. The state government has allocated ₹46 crore for the project. He added that similar ozone-based water treatment facilities would be established in other parts of Himachal Pradesh in the future.

Chief Minister said consumption of contaminated water can increase the risk of various diseases, making access to safe drinking water essential for public health.

He also announced the opening of a veterinary hospital at Baddal Thor to strengthen animal healthcare services in the region.

Sukhu said the government has started the process of providing benefits under the Mukhyamantri Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana, with surveys currently being conducted in panchayats. He said the government is committed to ensuring that people at the bottom of the social and economic ladder receive their rightful share of the state’s resources.

Chief Minister further said several important initiatives have been undertaken since the Congress government came to power to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, and their positive results are now becoming visible.

Highlighting environmental initiatives, Sukhu said the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana has been launched to involve youth and Mahila Mandals in plantation and forest conservation. Under the scheme, self-help groups are being provided financial assistance of ₹1.20 lakh, along with incentives based on the survival rate of planted saplings.

On education, Sukhu said the state government is taking several steps to strengthen the sector. CBSE schools have already been opened in the state, and more such schools will be established in the coming years to provide students with quality education.
