Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday virtually inaugurated adventure water sports activities at the Kol Dam reservoir in Aihan, Mandi district, from Shimla.

The expansion of water sports activities across the approximately 35-kilometre reservoir stretch from Aihan to Tattapani is expected to attract more tourists, create new employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth, and strengthen the regional economy.

Considering the natural beauty of the Kol Dam reservoir and its immense tourism potential, the state government has decided to expand adventure water sports activities in the area. Tourists will be able to enjoy a range of attractions, including speed boating, jet skiing, banana boat rides, bumper rides and a mini cruise with a capacity of 20 passengers.

The initiative aims to allow visitors to experience the scenic beauty of the reservoir while enjoying various adventure activities.

Addressing the occasion, Chief Minister Sukhu said the state government was continuously working to promote tourism in Himachal Pradesh, with water sports playing an important role in achieving this objective.

He said the tourism sector provides employment and self-employment opportunities to lakhs of families and also contributes to an increase in the state's revenue.

Chief Minister added that similar activities had already been launched in Bilaspur. The government's objective is to establish Himachal Pradesh as a leading state in the tourism sector.

Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Singh Thakur said the Chief Minister's vision had now taken shape on the ground. He said the state government, under Sukhu's leadership, was making continuous efforts to promote tourism.
