CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made purchases worth Rs. 8,900 at the Lavi Fair, Rampur in district Shimla on Thursday late evening. After attending the closing ceremony of the International Lavi Fair-2024, the Chief Minister visited various exhibition stalls on the occasion, stopped at a stall selling handicraft articles and dry fruits, and showed keen interest in the products. He also interacted with a woman vendor to learn more about her items. At the end of the conversation, he purchased one kilogram of walnuts and a Dohru (Woollen Blanket) from her, paying Rs. 8,000 for the blanket and Rs. 900 for the walnuts via Google Pay.
Sukhu said that the State Government is promoting handloom products, which are not just commercial goods but also embody the rich culture of Himachal Pradesh. He said that fairs like Lavi are not only celebrations but also symbolize the spirit of brotherhood and goodwill, with a history dating back centuries. He added that the State Government is making earnest efforts to strengthen the rural economy and has undertaken numerous initiatives in this regard over the past two years, with plans to intensify these efforts in the future.
