Himachal Pradesh government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, assigning new responsibilities to several senior officers across key departments. Two separate notifications issued by the Personnel Department late on Wednesday evening announced the appointment of an acting Deputy Commissioner for Kullu and additional departmental charges for five senior IAS officers. All orders have come into effect immediately.

Surjit Singh Appointed Acting Deputy Commissioner of Kullu

The government has entrusted Surjit Singh (HPAS-2012), currently serving as Additional District Magistrate (Development)-cum-Project Director, DRDA Kullu, with the additional charge of Deputy Commissioner, Kullu, until further orders.

The move is being viewed as an important administrative decision aimed at ensuring continuity in district administration and maintaining the smooth functioning of government operations in Kullu.

Five IAS Officers Given Additional Responsibilities

Along with the Kullu appointment, the government has assigned additional responsibilities to five senior IAS officers while allowing them to continue with their existing posts:

  • Aditya Negi (IAS), Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited, has been given the additional charge of Director, Industries Department.

  • Kamal Kant Saroch (IAS), Chief Executive Officer of Himurja, will now also serve as Director, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department.

  • Shubh Karan Singh (IAS), Special Secretary (Education), has been assigned the additional responsibility of Director, Energy Department.

  • Shivam Pratap Singh (IAS), Director of Youth Services and Sports, has been given the additional charge of Managing Director, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).

  • Abhishek Verma (IAS), Managing Director of Milkfed, will additionally serve as Director, Digital Technology and Governance Department.

Aim Is to Improve Administrative Efficiency

According to the government notifications, all officers will continue to hold their current positions while discharging the newly assigned responsibilities. The reshuffle is believed to have been undertaken to accelerate departmental work affected by vacant posts and to strengthen administrative efficiency across important sectors of the state government.

The immediate implementation of the orders indicates the government’s effort to ensure uninterrupted functioning of key departments and improve coordination within the state administration.
