Haryana’s most-wanted gangster Himanshu Bhau has reportedly been arrested in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Bhau, who is accused of involvement in several serious criminal cases across Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, is also alleged to be linked to the firing outside YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav’s residence in Gurugram.
Bhau is reportedly associated with the Neeraj Bawana gang and is considered a staunch rival of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He has been on the wanted lists of Haryana and Delhi police, with an Interpol notice also issued against him.
Police had been searching for Bhau following the firing incident outside Elvish Yadav’s house in Gurugram in August 2025. Investigators subsequently sought international assistance to trace him as he was believed to be operating his criminal network from abroad.
More Than 30 Criminal Cases
Originally from Ritholi village in Rohtak district, Bhau is allegedly involved in more than 30 criminal cases registered across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. These include murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, extortion, ransom demands and illegal arms trafficking.
According to investigators, Bhau entered the world of crime at the age of 17. In 2020, he reportedly escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in Hisar along with around 20 other boys. He subsequently established his own criminal network.
He came into the spotlight in 2022 after allegedly orchestrating three high-profile murders in Haryana within a span of 24 hours. Investigators believe his gang primarily targeted businessmen, liquor traders and individuals involved in betting operations to extort money.
Name Emerged in Delhi Burger King Murder Case
Bhau's name gained national attention following the murder of Aman Joon at a Burger King outlet in Delhi’s Rajouri Garden in June 2024. The victim was shot dead at the outlet, and Bhau allegedly claimed responsibility for the killing through social media.
Delhi Police investigated the incident from the gang rivalry angle and examined the suspected involvement of members of the criminal network.
Allegedly Ran Extortion Network From Abroad
Investigators suspect that Bhau fled India using a forged passport and operated his network from abroad, reportedly from countries including the United States or Portugal.
He allegedly used WhatsApp calls to demand large sums of money from businessmen, doctors and property dealers in India. Those who refused to pay were allegedly threatened with violence, while shooters operating in India were suspected of carrying out attacks to intimidate targets.
In recent days, joint operations by Delhi and Haryana police have reportedly led to the arrests of several alleged shooters associated with his network, including suspects apprehended following encounters.
Indian Agencies May Seek Extradition
Following Bhau’s reported arrest in the United States, Indian investigative agencies are expected to pursue the legal process required to bring him back to India to face the cases registered against him.
The extradition process would involve coordination between Indian authorities and their US counterparts, along with the necessary legal proceedings. Further details regarding the circumstances of his arrest and the next steps in the case are awaited.
