A tragic accident occurred in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district on Wednesday when a three-storey house collapsed in Rajgarh after days of heavy rainfall. The incident claimed the lives of a 60-year-old woman and her pregnant married daughter, while two infant girls were injured.
The victims were identified as Nirmala (60), wife of Bhim Singh, and Pooja (32), wife of Amit Rana, who had come to her parental home. Doctors at Civil Hospital Rajgarh declared both women dead on arrival.
According to officials, the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Chhichhadiyadhar village of Didag Panchayat. Bhim Singh’s three-storey house suddenly collapsed, reportedly due to land subsidence caused by continuous rainfall.
At the time of the collapse, Nirmala, her daughter Pooja, and two one-and-a-half-year-old girls were inside the house. All four were trapped under the debris.
The injured children were identified as Eira and Abiyana. Eira is said to be in critical condition and has been referred to Solan Hospital for advanced treatment, while Abiyana is undergoing treatment at Rajgarh Civil Hospital.
Hearing the loud sound of the collapse, local residents rushed to the spot and immediately began rescue operations without waiting for official teams. Villagers and local youths removed the trapped family members from the debris and transported them to the hospital.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by heavy monsoon rains and unstable hill terrain in Himachal Pradesh. Authorities are monitoring the situation, and further investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway.
