Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday chaired the High Powered Works Purchase Committee meeting of the Urban Local Bodies Department in Chandigarh. During the meeting, approval was granted to the tender rates for sanitation and solid waste management works related to various urban local bodies across the state.
The total cost of the tenders approved in the meeting is approximately Rs 90 crore 66 lakh. Through negotiations done during the tender process, savings of about Rs 4 crore 17 lakh were done. Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Vipul Goel, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, tender rates were approved for works related to door-to-door waste collection, segregation of waste and transportation to the processing site in Municipal Council Gohana, processing of municipal solid waste in Municipal Council Palwal, bio-remediation of legacy waste in Municipal Corporation Karnal, road sweeping in HSVP sectors of Municipal Corporation Hisar and mechanised as well as manual cleaning of roads in the Municipal Corporation Hisar area. Apart from this, works related to door-to-door waste collection, segregation and transportation of waste to the processing site in Municipal Council Palwal were also approved.
The Chief Minister directed officers concerned to ensure that the works for which tenders have been approved are implemented strictly in accordance with the prescribed standards and all technical specifications mentioned in the tender documents. He said that the concerned agencies and contractors should carry out the works as per the established rules so that the sanitation system in cities can be further strengthened.
The Chief Minister also made it clear that works related to sanitation and solid waste management will be monitored regularly, and grading of contractors will be done on the basis of their performance. Agencies performing well will be encouraged, while strict action will be ensured against contractors who fail to meet the prescribed standards, he said.
Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Dr. Saket Kumar, Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Shashvat Sangwan, Mayor, Karnal Municipal Corporation, Renu Bala Gupta, Mayor, Hisar, Parveen Popli and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
