Electric vehicles are rapidly gaining popularity in India, but many customers are still hesitant to invest in an EV because of concerns over poor resale value. In a major move aimed at boosting buyer confidence, Hyundai Motor India has introduced an Assured Buyback Program for its popular Hyundai Creta Electric SUV.
Under the new scheme, Hyundai is promising up to 60% guaranteed buyback value on the Creta Electric, making it one of the most attractive ownership assurance offers currently available in the Indian EV market.
60% value guaranteed after 3 years
According to Hyundai, customers who purchase the Creta Electric will be eligible for a 60% assured buyback of the vehicle’s original ex-showroom price after 3 years or 45,000 km, whichever comes first.
This means that if owners decide to sell or upgrade their vehicle after three years, they will not have to worry about finding a buyer in the used-car market or negotiating a lower price. Hyundai itself will buy back the vehicle at the predetermined value, offering greater peace of mind to EV buyers.
Battery subscription option lowers entry cost
Hyundai had earlier introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for the Creta Electric. Under this plan, customers can buy the vehicle without purchasing the battery upfront, bringing the starting ex-showroom price down to ₹10.99 lakh.
Instead of paying the full battery cost at the time of purchase, users pay based on usage. The battery rental charge starts from ₹3.9 per kilometre, significantly reducing the initial financial burden and making EV ownership more affordable for a wider range of customers.
Strong performance credentials
Apart from range and affordability, Hyundai is also highlighting the SUV’s performance. The Creta Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, making it one of the quicker electric SUVs in its segment.
Two battery pack options
Hyundai Creta Electric is offered with two battery choices:
42 kWh battery pack — claimed range of up to 420 km on a single charge.
51.4 kWh long-range battery pack — ARAI-certified range of 510 km.
The SUV also supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes.
Why this matters
Industry experts believe that resale uncertainty has been one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption in India. By combining a guaranteed buyback, battery subscription model, long driving range, and fast-charging capability, Hyundai is attempting to address both the financial and practical concerns of potential EV buyers.
