The opening One-Day International (ODI) between India and Afghanistan was delayed after persistent rain disrupted proceedings in Dharamshala on Saturday. The toss could not take place at the scheduled time as the pitch remained covered due to wet conditions.
The three-match ODI series gets underway with both teams looking to build momentum ahead of next year's ICC ODI World Cup. Led by Shubman Gill, India will be aiming for a strong start, but the weather has temporarily halted the action.
Ground staff have covered not only the pitch but also parts of the outfield to protect the playing surface from the continuous rainfall. Super Soppers are being used to remove excess water and ensure that the ground is ready as soon as the rain stops.
Match officials are closely monitoring the weather, and a revised start time will be announced once conditions improve. Fans are hoping for a break in the rain so that the much-anticipated series opener can begin later in the day.
