Chandigarh administration has tightened its grip on app-based cab and bike taxi operators, suspending the aggregator licence of IndSystems IT Pvt. Ltd., which operates services under the brand name InDrive, for six months with immediate effect from 10 August.
The order was issued by the State Transport Authority (STA), directing the company to stop operating cab and bike taxi services in Chandigarh during the suspension period.
In a public notice, the STA also instructed cab and bike taxi owners and drivers associated with InDrive not to attach their vehicles to the platform or accept ride bookings through the company’s mobile application. The authority warned that any violation of the order would invite strict legal action, including challans and possible seizure of vehicles.
The administration has appealed to the public not to book rides through InDrive during the suspension period. Passengers have been advised to use other mobile applications that are registered with the State Transport Authority to avoid inconvenience.
Ola licence was suspended earlier
Before the action against InDrive, the STA had suspended the aggregator licence of ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Ola) on 17 June 2026 for six months.
According to officials, multiple complaints had been received against Ola for alleged non-compliance with provisions of the Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Aggregator Rules, 2025. The complaints reportedly related to driver insurance, training requirements, fare regulation, and other operational norms.
The latest move indicates a broader crackdown by the Chandigarh administration on app-based transport operators to ensure compliance with the city’s aggregator regulations and passenger safety standards.
