A new wave of enthusiasm swept through Punjab politics as international wrestler and ‘India’s Strongest Man’ titleholder Inderpreet Singh, popularly known as ‘Super Khalsa’, officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday.
He was inducted into the party by Chief Minister’s OSD Rajbir Singh Ghuman, who warmly welcomed him into the AAP fold. Ghuman expressed confidence that the inclusion of a talented and disciplined sportsperson like Inderpreet Singh would further strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Inderpreet Singh said he was inspired to enter politics after being influenced by the work and impact of noted sports personalities, including kabaddi player Pala Jalalpuria, Rustam-e-Hind Jassa Patti, and Rustam-e-Hind Pritpal Phagwara.
A decorated athlete, Inderpreet is currently a pro-wrestling heavyweight champion and a four-time gold medalist in Punjab State Powerlifting. Known for his dedication and discipline, he now aims to channel his sporting spirit into public service.
AAP leadership expressed optimism that the young sportsperson, who has brought pride to Punjab at national and international platforms, will contribute significantly to the vision of building a ‘Rangla Punjab’. His popularity and experience are expected to inspire the youth to steer away from social evils like drug abuse and embrace sports and constructive activities.
