A family in Jalandhar’s Kanshi Nagar area reportedly came under a late-night attack when a group of people allegedly pelted their house with bricks and stones following a dispute with a neighbour.
According to the victim family, the incident took place late Wednesday night when they went to the terrace with their pet dogs. A young man identified as Lucky, who lives in the neighbourhood, allegedly started shouting and abusing them from above.
The family said they asked him to remain calm and suggested resolving the matter through discussion. However, he allegedly became aggressive and, shortly afterwards, returned with 7-8 other people.
The group allegedly began pelting the house with bricks and stones. Fearing for their safety, the family members immediately locked the doors from inside and remained indoors until the attackers left.
The stone-pelting reportedly caused damage to the house, including the area outside and the rooftop. Pieces of bricks and stones were also scattered across the lane.
The family has alleged that the accused consumes drugs and frequently creates disturbances in the locality. This allegation has not yet been independently verified.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team from Bhargav Camp police station, including Duty Officer SI Sham Lal, reached the spot along with the local councillor.
Police have started examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area to identify those involved. The police said the matter is being investigated on the basis of the complaint and that legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
