A suspect has been detained from Delhi in connection with the explosion that took place outside the BSF Punjab Frontier Headquarters in Jalandhar on May 5. The Delhi CIA is currently questioning the accused to determine his exact role in the incident.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly travelled from Jalandhar by bus after carrying out the blast and later went into hiding in Delhi. Investigators are trying to ascertain whether the accused himself planted the explosive device or if it was handed over to him by someone else.

Sources said the suspect had conducted reconnaissance of the area for two days before the explosion. After the incident, he reportedly reached the Jalandhar bus stand and boarded a bus to another city before escaping to Delhi.

Though the police have not officially confirmed the arrest, reports suggest that the accused has been brought to Jalandhar on police remand. Sources further claimed that the suspect was apprehended during a joint operation conducted by the CIA staff, Jalandhar, and the Delhi Police. However, officials have not yet disclosed the extent of his involvement in the blast.

The explosion occurred around 8 pm on May 5 outside the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar. In the incident, a scooter belonging to 21-year-old Gurpreet, a resident of Garha who had come to collect a parcel from the BSF office, was damaged in the blast. Initial investigations had raised suspicion that explosives were planted in the scooter. Gurpreet was detained for questioning but was released the following night.

Following the Jalandhar blast, another explosion was reported in the Khasa Army area of Amritsar. No arrests have been made in that case so far.
