In a major breakthrough under the “War Against Gangsters” campaign, the joint team of Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, Counter Intelligence, and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) arrested a suspect with a hand grenade and an unnumbered motorcycle in Jalandhar.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur. The team included DCP Investigation Manpreet Singh Dhillon, ADCP Rakesh Kumar Yadav, and ACP West Atish Bhatia, along with officials from Counter Intelligence and AGTF.
According to police, on May 22, 2026, the police team was stationed near the canal bridge at Kot Sadiq on Kala Sanghian Road when they received a tip-off about a suspicious youth riding a black Hero Splendor motorcycle without a registration number. The suspect was intercepted and searched, during which a hand grenade was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Raman Deep Singh, also known as Ramni, a resident of Ghadke Luharana village under Chohla Sahib police station in Tarn Taran district. He was reportedly staying in the Basti Sheikh area of Jalandhar.
Police have registered a case against the accused at Division No. 5 police station under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. The accused was produced before a court, which granted five days of police remand for further investigation.
