Jalandhar Commissionerate Police launched a major crackdown on illegal hookah bars operating in the Urban Estate area as part of the ongoing 'War Against Drugs' campaign. During the coordinated raids, police seized a large quantity of prohibited flavoured tobacco, hookahs and other related equipment. Three individuals were detained for questioning.
According to ADCP Rakesh Yadav, the operation was initiated following a confidential tip-off received on Tuesday evening. Based on the intelligence, a joint action plan was prepared under the supervision of the ACP West and ACP Model Town.
Considering the seriousness of the information, police teams from three different police stations were brought together to conduct the operation. The joint team carried out simultaneous raids at suspected locations in the Urban Estate area.
During the searches, police recovered a substantial quantity of banned flavoured tobacco, several hookahs and other accessories from the premises. The seized items have been taken into custody and sealed for further legal proceedings.
Police also detained three persons found at the spot. Officials said they are being questioned, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the illegal operation and identify others involved.
