Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Anil Vij today informed that Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari has directed concerned agencies to undertake a large-scale plantation campaign along National Highways in the state for their beautification.
In a letter addressed to the Energy Minister, Haryana Government, the Union Minister stated that plantation and beautification works along National Highways are carried out during the monsoon season by agencies or the state Forest Department, depending on the availability of space.
This year as well, extensive plantation will be undertaken during the monsoon, and necessary directions have already been issued to the regional units.
It may be recalled that Sh. Vij had recently written to Gadkari regarding the beautification of National Highways in Haryana. In his letter, he had highlighted that under the Union Minister’s leadership and the efforts of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), several important highways have been constructed in Haryana in recent years. These include 152-D, Jammu-Katra Expressway, Panipat-Rohtak, Ambala-Hisar, and Panchkula-Yamunanagar routes. The development of these highways has provided convenience to the people of the state.
Expressing gratitude to the Union Minister for this infrastructural support, Vij added that plantation along National Highways will not only promote environmental conservation but will also enhance the overall beauty of the roads.
