A lawyer was killed after a speeding truck hit Activa in Punjab's Ludhiana, police said. Victim identified as Shiv Prem Singh, sustained critical injuries in the accident and was rushed to Fortis Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to police, the accident took place around 4:30 pm on June 27. Shiv Prem Singh, a resident of Kohara near Shivani Hospital, was returning to Ludhiana on his Activa after buying vegetables. He was travelling from Chandigarh Road towards the Jandiali side when a speeding truck allegedly hit his scooter from behind and ran over him.
The truck involved in the accident bears registration number HR 37 D 9711. Police said the vehicle was being driven rashly and negligently at the time of the crash.
The deceased lawyer is survived by his wife and four children. In his complaint, the victim's son, Lovedeep Singh, alleged that the truck driver was driving at high speed and caused the fatal collision through reckless driving.
Based on the complaint, Focal Point Police Station registered an FIR on June 28, 2026, against the accused driver, Rajvinder Sharma, a resident of Andhari Mahabalipur village under Paliganj Police Station in Patna district, Bihar. Further investigation is underway.
