A fake letter claiming the appointment of senior Punjab Congress leader and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa as the President of the Punjab Congress has gone viral on social media, triggering political speculation within the party.
Reacting to the development, Randhawa took to his X account and clarified that the letter was completely fabricated. He stated that the Congress party had not issued any such communication and urged people not to believe misleading information being circulated online.
Congress MP also write a formal complaint to the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) against those responsible for creating and spreading the fake document.
The forged letter surfaced at a time when speculation about possible organizational changes within the Punjab Congress was already gaining momentum following a meeting in New Delhi between five senior party leaders and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
After the meeting, senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa had said that he would accept and fulfill any responsibility assigned by the party high command.
He also emphasized that the Congress party remains united and committed to strengthening its organization in Punjab.
The viral fake letter has added to the ongoing political buzz, prompting Congress leaders to dismiss the claims and seek action against those spreading misinformation.
