A young man died after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance under suspicious circumstances in the Dehlon police station area of Ludhiana. The deceased has been identified as Mandeep.
According to family member Bhola, Mandeep had been married for around seven to eight months. His wife had been staying at her parental home for nearly 10 days. Mandeep reportedly went to bring her back, but she told him that her mother-in-law had advised her not to return.
The family said Mandeep became mentally distressed following the conversation and allegedly consumed a poisonous substance. He was rushed to a hospital after his condition deteriorated, but doctors could not save him and he died during treatment.
Before consuming the substance, Mandeep also reportedly recorded a video in which he held his in-laws responsible for his death. After the video came to light, the family demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police have initiated an investigation. The allegations made in the video and the exact circumstances leading to Mandeep’s death are yet to be independently established. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and other evidence gathered during the investigation.
