LUDHIANA: Two disturbing videos that have gone viral on social media have reignited concerns over drug abuse in Punjab, with many users speculating that the individuals seen in the clips were under the influence of a so-called "zombie drug." However, Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have clarified that there is no official confirmation linking the incidents to any specific substance.
The first video, reportedly filmed near the Driving Test Track on Chandigarh Road, shows a young man dressed in black struggling to remain on his feet inside a dilapidated building. He repeatedly leans against a wall for support before collapsing, appearing to have lost control over his body.
The second clip, said to be from Samrala Chowk, captures a young woman kneeling in the middle of a busy road. As she attempts to stand, she is unable to maintain her balance and bends forward in an unusual posture while traffic continues to move around her. Bystanders gather nearby, but she appears incapable of regaining control.
The identities of both individuals have not yet been established. Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have released the videos and appealed to the public for help in identifying the man and woman.
Police said their immediate priority is to locate the individuals so they can receive appropriate medical treatment. Investigators are also trying to determine the source of the suspected narcotics and trace those involved in the drug supply network.
Officials further stated that social media claims linking the incidents to a "zombie drug" are being examined, but stressed that no such claim has been verified. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged the public to avoid spreading unconfirmed information until the probe is complete.
