Search operations have intensified for senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, with police conducting raids in both Amritsar and Chandigarh as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to officials, Amritsar Police has constituted 12 dedicated teams to trace Majithia after a case was registered on May 31 at Majitha Police Station. The FIR pertains to allegations that an accused was forcibly released from police custody in a coordinated conspiracy involving Majithia and others.

Police sources said multiple locations are being searched, including his residence in Green Avenue (Amritsar), the MLA Hostel in Chandigarh, and several other suspected hideouts.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking legal relief in the matter. The court is scheduled to hear the petition soon and has sought responses from senior Punjab Police officials, including the DGP, SSP Amritsar, and SHO Majitha.

Authorities maintain that the case involves a planned conspiracy to free an accused from police custody, and further legal action is underway against Majithia and other named individuals.
