A major fire broke out in Dhar village of Jubbal area in Shimla district late at night, triggering panic among residents. The blaze spread rapidly and engulfed several houses within a short span of time.
According to preliminary information, five houses were badly affected in the fire. As the flames intensified, local residents rushed to the spot and began efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
The fire department and police were informed about the incident, following which teams reached the village and launched a firefighting operation. The nighttime conditions and the close proximity of houses posed a major challenge for the rescue teams.
Firefighters, with assistance from local residents, worked for a prolonged period to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further.
Jubbal SDM Gurmeet Negi said that the fire had been brought under control.
The exact extent of damage to the houses and belongings inside them is yet to be assessed. Officials are conducting a detailed assessment to determine the losses caused by the fire.
The cause of the fire has also not been ascertained so far. The administration and concerned departments are collecting information regarding the incident and assessing the damage.
The incident created an atmosphere of fear in the village, particularly as it occurred late at night. However, the fire was eventually contained, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the village.
