A man was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over cutting a tree branch in Baghelewala village of Moga. The deceased has been identified as Keval Singh, a resident of Baghelewala.
According to a complaint filed by the victim’s son, Harjinder Singh, the accused, identified as Sanbeer Singh alias Nikku and Gursharan Singh alias Sharna, allegedly assaulted his father during the dispute.
Harjinder alleged that the accused climbed onto Keval Singh and repeatedly kicked him, causing fatal injuries. He died at the spot.
The complainant said that when he tried to intervene and save his father, the accused also pushed and manhandled him. Hearing the commotion, people from the area started gathering at the spot, following which the accused allegedly fled.
According to the family, there had been an ongoing dispute with the accused over stopping them from cutting a branch of a tree. The complaint also names Sarabjit Singh and Tarsem Singh, alleging that they had instigated or encouraged the accused.
Police at Sadar Moga Police Station have registered a case against Sanbeer Singh alias Nikku, Gursharan Singh alias Sharna, Sarabjit Singh, Tarsem Singh and two unidentified persons.
Police are investigating the matter and efforts are underway to trace the accused.
