Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia on Wednesday visited Jalandhar to express condolences on the demise of former Punjab minister Chunni Lal Bhagat, father of Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat. Sisodia met the bereaved family and shared their grief.
Speaking to the media, Sisodia criticised the Centre over the new UPI-related rules and notifications, describing them as a move that could create difficulties for digital transactions. He said people who believe in transparent digital payments and stay away from black money transactions were being unfairly affected.
Sisodia said that young people across the country are increasingly adopting online payments instead of cash, a trend that contributes to greater transparency in the economy. He alleged that the Centre’s policies could make digital transactions more expensive and place an additional financial burden on users of online payment platforms.
Commenting on the ongoing power situation in Punjab, Sisodia acknowledged that power supply disruptions cause inconvenience to the public. However, he maintained that the recent issues were primarily caused by a shortage in coal supply. He said the Punjab government had clearly stated its position on the matter and was taking steps to normalise the situation.
Targeting the Congress over its protest in Chandigarh, Sisodia accused the party of supporting individuals linked to violence against Punjabis in the past. Referring to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, he said Congress should answer questions related to such issues before raising concerns on other matters in Punjab.
AAP leader’s remarks came during his visit to Jalandhar, where he attended the condolence meeting for the late Bhagat Chunni Lal.
